Anyone on a diet?

When you're on a keto diet, do you stay away from eating fruits and beans? Is the diet effective in losing belly fat? :0
Some fruits in small amounts are OK. Belly fat is typically the last to go in any diet, but yes, I have had success with that.
Please read up on it and make sure it's for you. There is a ton of info out there, but it works for me. Diabetes runs in my family. I don't have it, but this is basically a diabetic's diet, to a large degree.

For the first couple of weeks you limit net carb intake to 20g/day or less. After your body adjusts, and you get to the weight you want, then folks typically up the carbs by 5-10g/day/week to see what their own personal tolerance levels are.

There are some great low-carb options and recipes. If you are on Reddit, /r/keto and /r/ketorecipes are great resources and support.

first and foremost... CLEANSES ARE JUNK! don't strip your body of the nutrients it needs. doing a cleanse is like doing a water change with tap water... you just DONT. 8 pounds at 5'3" and 117 is tough. at best you have 5 pounds of water weight, so being realistic is a must. secondly, one should never look at themselves in relation with a number on the scale. your body composition isn't a number. with that said, you can certainly follow some fad or crash diet but i guarantee you that you'll gain it all and MORE within 6 months. in order to truly get to the place you're talking about you should definitely eat way more than 1,000 calories a day. twice that. but not in just 3-4 meals. space it out to 6-8 meals, 10 if possible. by doing so you not only lessen risk developing an eating disorder but you always keep some gas in your stomach. therefore its ALWAYS running, by running it breaks down calories. DEFINITELY engage in an hour a day of some type of exercise where you elevate your heart rate and preferably sweat. the key to a proper, healthy weight loss is adherence. obviously cutting out sugars, empty carbs, and non essential fats is going to help well. and if by chance you're already doing say 45 mins of cardio a day... add in some circuit training, weighted resistance burns more calories than cardio anyday.

Her bmr at her height and weight is approx 1300 cal/day. Eating 1000 cal with no exercise is a 300 cal deficit (max 500) which is perfect. If she would eat 2000 cal/day she would be gaining. I'm 6'1" and 195 right now. When I start bulking again I will be eating around 2600 cal/day with weights 3x week. The myth that you should eat 8 small meals instead of 3 portioned meals has been disproved. There is a fat loss technique called intermittent fasting, where you don't eat for 16hrs then get all your calories in the remaining time of the day.

The point of healthy weight/fat loss is staying in a certain caloric defecit to only burn fat, not burn as many calories as possible

Raman noodles are bad news, processed flour, artificial flavoring, & the sodium count is off the page. Tofu is worse, mostly soy and soy is super bad news for your body. Don't believe it? Google Lectins, Phytates, and Goitrogens, you'll be shocked.
Keep it simple!
If you can stay away from all dairy, wheat, legumes, and refined sugars of any kind, you will not only lose weight, you'll increase your metabolism & stamina, and improve/restore your health. JMTC

I was sooo heart broken when I found out beans contained lectin! :( Red beans, rice, and sausage was a weekly thing in my household

Oh no..I just bought 3 cans of black beans yesterday... are black beans okay? or are they just slightly better than red beans lol

Beans contain lectin, which is supposedly toxic to your gut. Why we have gas/cramps after consuming them. Lectin is a defense mechanism in some veggies/foods. I haven't researched too much but that is what I gathered

I will still eat red beans every now and then, but they are for the most part out of my diet

Here is high protein meal I love to eat all year. Mexican quinoa
1/2 cup Sauté onions and garlic in pan till clear
3/4 cup quinoa
1-1/2 cup water
Drain 1 can black beans
1 can tomatoes
1 can chillis
1tlbs chilli
1tsp cumin
Simmer till done with lid on salt pepper and season as you like I love Some cholula hot sauce on mine. Some people add chicken but my wife is vegetarian soooo you know.

If you want to cut up fast eat fruit in the morning then veggies all day keeping most types of carbs out of your diet other than complex carbs like fruit and veggies. Also quinoa is a complex carb but has some protein with it. Broccoli has more protein per 100 calories than steak per 100 calories.Red meat is very hard for humans to digest and basically rots before it digest. Don't get me wrong I love a good bloody steak from time to time. Now for exercise try working in HITT with some faster pased LITT. A true LITT doesn't really work well but only HITT will work for the first few days need to switch to LITT so you don't get tired and start burning Muscle.

Beans are only toxic if you eat them without a fat source and would have to eat them as pretty much your only food. Most people have cheat meals which replaces the fat needed to break them down. Also if you do eat them solely add some coconut oil or another type of fat to break them down.

Pretty cool, I'm gonna have to research some more about it

Personally I'm not a huge fan of "losing weight" being the target goal. Weight numbers alone can mean your healthier or unhealthier depending on the composition of the remaining weight. It's probably safe to say that ppl want to be healthier and look more astheticly pleasing. The diet itself should be complemented by regular excesise with each being just as important as the other. Be wary of trend diets as often they are back be mostly speculation and some are even dangerous. For me, gradual changes worked best as it was easier to make the change a permanent part of my lifestyle. A good diet doesn't mean you can have any of something. It means you have to limit it to less frequent. I found it to be great motivation to see some small change. Even if it isn't where I want to be it gave me hope and encouraged me to make other changes. One recent thing I realized was the importance of protein. I was afraid of looking too bulky so I didn't take and protein supplements. However I changed this and sines I do Ned weight with higher rep, my frame is actually the same but my waist line is smaller and getting leaner. Good luck

Thank you for sharing your awesome recipe!! Mexican food is my all time favorite :) I have been on camping with vegetarians and I actually have come to like some veggie food except for veggie sausages...

I have lost 127 lbs since I started in September of last year. It hasn't been easy but it has been worth it. I bought some weight watchers books off of eBay and have been following that. I started at 393 lbs and right now am at 266 lbs. I am big boned and am 6' 4". I'd like to loose another 20 or so pounds.

Intake>export=weight gain
Intake<export=weight loss

Exercise and diet goes hand in hand this is the easy part making yourself do it is also alittle harder but still easy. No making yourself commit and stick to it is the hard part. Haha.

That's pretty incredible man! Great job. So you strictly follow WW and that's it?

I lost over 115lbs in 14 months through diet and exercise and part of that diet was a quarterly cleanse. This is only to help mix thinks up and it does work. I have also been able to maintain my ideal weight for the past two years. On a regular day with my strenuous exercise (heavy cardio) I cunsume anywhere from 3,600-3,800 calories across 6 meals. I agree with most of you post but to say cleanses are junk I strongly disagree.
thats cool, we all have our beliefs, i based mine strictly on facts of what it does. sure it'll help you "lose weight" but not in a healthy manner. congrats on the weight loss and I'm sure turning your life around as well. stay healthy friend!

i've not heard of intermittent fasting, i'll brush up on it no doubt. 6'1" and 195 you must be either very lean (less than 5%) or not very muscular. I'm a powerlifter, 5'10" 205-210. compete at 93kg. anytime you fast, you basically have your body eat itself. to run optimally and maintain a balanced homeostasis you need "X" amounts of fats, carbs, protein... again. this fasting technique may work... but isn't the healthiest option.
