Bonsai???

It actually came in to my friends shop as a flat encrustation, and grew out like this. I think he was told purple shamrock or something like that but he is just guessing. Looks close to bonzai to me but I am the farthest thing from an expert. Thanks alot fellas for taking a look.

garf bansai. Mine looks the same way

Does your friends grow up like yours did? Or does his stay "flat encrusting"?
If his stays flatter and grew just a few upshoots, then it could be Tyree's Purple Unknown.
Mine grows like that and I got it directly from Tyree.

Valida? maybe tri-color? IDK....... Good luck, it looks nic e though!!!!! Could be a bonsai too, too many acros to keep them straight.

Looks like a Garf Bonzai to me. Mine was flat encrusting for the longest and then started going vertical. You can see it here on the left;

garf bonsai all the way.... mine looks identical growth pattern and all.....it does look very similar to a tricolor valida but as time goes you start to notice a whole different growth pattern and coloration of the whole coral....

Yeah I'd have to agree on garf bonsai...mine is about the same size and looks exactly like that.
