Can anybody share some insight on these trident alk swings. Not sure if this is normal behaviour but it seems to be jumping between 8.2 and 9. There would be a couple days where it hovers around 8.2 and then the next day it'll jump back to 9. After that, it'll drop back down. My Ca and Mg also seems to be fluctuating also and I'm not sure if this is normal behaviour or not.

I dose equal amounts of 2 part every hour during the lights on cycle and less at night. I have a 175 gallon total tank volume with a mixed reef. Corals seems to be doing fine but not sure what is causing these swings.

Sorry, 0 experience with Apex stuff but have you verified that the doser isn't clogged?

Welcome to Apex!
However, when is the last time you calibrated the Trident? Are you reagents over half full?

This isn't really an Apex thing but rather water chemistry and maybe a pinch of expectations.

I do not know what the OP's testing schedule is but the default is 4 alkalinity tests per day (every 6 hours) and 2 combined (calcium/magnesium) tests per day (every 12 hours). Testing happens at 0:00, 6:00, 12:00, and 18:00, with combined tests at 0:00 and 12:00.

The exact same thing is happening to me. My target Alkalinity is 8.0, but it’s reading 8.6—and the same goes for Ca and Mg. I’ve been calibrating it for three days now. It starts off fine, but then it drifts out of spec. I’ve had the Trident for about three months.

Same thing happened to me
Set my Alk at 8.4 - good for a few days and then it jumps to 9. Not too bad of a swing for me to get my panties in a bunch.
I observe my tank daily so I rely on the corals to tell me something is wrong.
