Aquabiomics Question

diversify your bacterial biom by adding anything your tank is lacking.
Sounds great in a perfect world lol.. problem is nobody really knows what’s in what bottles any more and if it works or not.. telegram has been testing numerous bottles but the results are above my pay grade haha!

I added rubble from aquabiomics to boost my bacterial population.

Would that be by purchasing a bottle of elixir? Not being sarcastic. I’m trying to understand.

I’m doing ICP and trace supplement. So, I’m trying to apply the same thinking from that to this. But, all you hear is how do we know what bacteria is in what bottle? Meaning - can you effectively target the specific items needed that are demonstrated in my Aquabiomics test like I can with trace?

I’m really wanting to see my results, but, if I can’t do a dang thing about it, to me it’s a money grab. The reason I want to see it is that I consolidated 2 tanks. 1 of those tanks was >5 years old and for a 2 year period was a basket case that every potion known to man kind eventually made its way on to it. The other was a system started with wet gulf base rock. Both of those were put together in my new system. Added to that pot of stew was 150 pounds of Premium wet gulf rock, 160 pounds of wet gulf sand (all from TBS) and between my drag tank and display (plumbed together) I have added over 200 pieces from many many different sources. So I find this to be really interesting, but, how much am I will to pay for this interest…

I’ve not planned to get one since I do not know what I’d do with the data. I do think it a useful tool to know what is in products, and perhaps to help decide what to do if there are infection issues of various sorts.

The diversification methods such as natural ocean sand or rock, or even getting those from a high quality reef tank can be good options if the tank was dry started or otherwise had limitations in bacteria (such as antibiotic treatments). But it may not be necessary to get a test to decide to do that.

.

The problem with that analogy is that, for example, a coral must have a certain amount of iron to survive. No other element can replace it.

The roles and requirements for bacteria are much more poorly understood and often multiple species can occupy the same ecological niche. And some niches may not need to be filled at all.

I have no doubt that one day this sort of tool will be very useful. I’m just not convinced we are there yet.
