I don't have the money to buy a Kessil or Radion yet, but am looking at upgrading my lighting. Im currently running a viparspectra 165 watt on my 40 gallon breeder, mostly LPS and softies. I have an Aquaknight in my closet from my old setup, and was considering ordering a second and using those on the tank rather than the viparspectra. Thoughts? Is the viparspectra still a better light? I know that the aquaknight has the cree chips in it (yes, the aqua knight is the same as hipargero on Amazon, that's where I bought it from!)

Thanks!

If I’m looking at the correct light- the aquaknight is 52w vs viparspectra 165w. I would just add another viparspectra for complete coverage for the 36 in length of the tank unless you don’t like the light. For softies and LPS it should be more than enough

The Viparspectra 165 watts should be fine on a 40 to grow just about everything.
I run mine at 0 white and 90% blue on 5 month old 40 IM.
