I want to share my new built with you, foremost as a way to keep track of my new built and second to here the thoughts of my fellow reefers.

At the moment I’m waiting for delivery of my nyos opus 300 slim. The reason I choose this aquarium is:
-made in Germany/ build quality
-external overflow (unique in Europe/Nl)
-size, it fits perfectly in a corner of my room, against a chimney.

The tank will be placed on the second floor of my appartement/penthouse. The room is attached to a roof terrace, kind of convenient as I have access to water and a sink there, but don’t want to go larger to keep things as easy as possible. R/o reservoir is stored outside on the terrace and this is where I make my r/o aswell.

I already have all the equipment I need to start my new tank;

Radion Xr15 g6 pro
Aqua knight v2 x2
Ai blade grow 30 inch
Jebao return pump DEP 3500
Jebao dmp 30
Vortech mp10
Jebao sow 8
Redsea ATO
Inkbird controller with schego 300w titanium heater
Kamoer peristaltic pump for kalk
Octo 110sss skimmer
Custom London aquatic design polycarbonate lid
Extruded aluminium light mount, Alux

Nothing fancy, but I’m planning on upgrading along the way. Especially my lights are a bit of a mess, might go all AI blade or 2x xr15 and blades.

My aquascape is already finished, it is made of Marco foundations and aqua holland rock(nice open shaped rock, light and cheap) please let me know if you have any comments on my scape.

Finally an update, My tank arrived last week after a 5! Month wait. Really happy with it the tank looks great with the external overflow and the finishing is top class. The seam/kit are nearly invisible, which makes me kind of nervous 😬, but looked on the internet and it seems to be the same with all of them. This looks to be a new version with the nozzle positioned in the middle of the overflow box. The cabinet is really nice and sturdy as well. Looks and feels really premium. All in all a steal for the 1400 I’ve paid. Can’t think of something I bought that is this much value for money. Most of the equipment is ready to go and been busy doing the wiring. I choose to use plastic cable ducts from Amazon and powerstrips with cable management boxes. Really happy as it can fit all the cables and powersupply easily.

Will be filling up the reef in a few weeks. Scape has been wet for 5 months now so would be good to go after that.

Acrylic lid design is also confirmed and will be arriving in a few weeks aswell.

That looks really nice! The aquascape you made will look spectacular in there. Plenty of room to place corals.

This week I filled the tank up and already put my first corals in. I will transfer the rest from my other aquarium in the coming weeks, with that the lights aswell. Setting up was quite straightforward although part of my rockwork fell apart when I wanted to put it in the display, didn’t have the mortar to fix so that set me back a few days. I changed the position of the reef so my scape was designed the other way around. But I think it still works well.
The coming days I will transfer my clowns and will transfer the rest of the fish when I tranfered all the corals and my old tank is empty.

The poly lid also arrived, very happy with it, perfect fit and finishing it just looks great.

Will take my time and keep the thread updated.

I didn’t see any reason to wait longer so shortly after my last post I decided to put everything in the new reef. Curious to see how this works out but I think I’m ok considering the rocks are all 5+ months cycled and part of the sand aswell. Bought some new indonesian live rock aswell to put in the sump.

I decided to go with 12k settings for my lights. Very happy with it, the colors are much more destinctive than in my old reef where it was much more heavy on the blues. It all gets a bit blend with the blues and the fish are so much nicer. You lose some of the fluorescence but I run the ramp down more blue for that. And, no need for filters when taking photos 👌🏻

Also rented a par meter and get around 270 on the middle and the top of the left structure and around 180 on the sand this is on 100% so not ideal but I guess enough for the foreseeable future. But I think this is the first thing I need to upgrade regarding the equipment.

All the fish are in there aswell and ordered a flame hawkfish and pink streaked wrasse to add to the family. Also ordered new corals, mostly easy sps; Pocillopora, stylopora, Montipora and some Acros to try out.

Excited to see how this will develop and I hope im not going to fast on this, all looking great till now.
