I like what you done in the second pic. It's hard to tell in the other pics. Just a suggestion, it might be easier to visualize if you take your foam under the rocks and cut and tape them to the foot print size of your tank bottom, the place the scape on it.

Welcome to R2R!!! So far its looking good. I also would suggest trying to keep some space between the rock and the glass, roughly 2 to 3 inches so you can clean the sand and glass. I saw 2 piles of rock in the pictures above, if you are going to use both I would suggest putting both in the tank before judging the look as each pillar will effect how the other one looks to the human eye.

Remember, perception is reality to the human eye.

I would say you got yourself a winner, looks like you have plenty of space up front and the sides to clean the glass and sand. Is it going to be bare bottom or r you going to add sand. Reason why I ask, as I found out when I did my first build, is that if you are going to add sand that the first inch or 2 of rock will be hidden. So it their is something about the aquascape in the first 2 inches that you like or love you may want to find a way to raise the whole structure up so its not hidden.

Remember though, we will help you in any way possible, but the aquascape is about the person who built it, usually we have a picture in our mind and try to realize it. Our mood, our likes and dislikes, etc play a role in the aquascape picture.

I like the more recent layout better for two reasons.

1) it looks better to me.

2) by having a taller rock tower, it will give you more options for ligh and flow intensity.
E.g., you can put corals that like higher light and flow at the top of the taller tower.
