I am new to the reefing hobby and need some assistance.

I have a Kill-A-Watt PS-10 to help monitor electricity usage and prevent fires/tripping breakers.

I finally got my light up and running (attached two reefbrite actinics to the ATI). Without plugging in the reefbrite, only the ATI plugs, the kill a watt immediately sounds the alarm and flashes the aM icon. I tried plugging in just the fan and it is fine. As soon as I plug in the cords for the lights, (just one or both) the alarm sets in.

I have read that some appliances don’t work with the kill-a-watt, and I’ve also read that it could be stray voltage. Since I’m not an electrician, I need help, please

It starts beeping after just plugging in one of the ballast plugs.

It hovers between 9 and 12 mA (and I’m not quite sure what that means)

Did you ever figure out a cause and solution to this? I’m dealing with the same thing when I plug my gen 2 Ecotech radions into my new Kill A Watt

I did not. Ended up purchasing a heavy duty outdoor version (for the plug covers) and used it instead. Honestly, I rarely look at it if it all now. I got it to measure the load to run the lights, so that I could break down the costs.
