Ricordea yumas and rhodactis usually pop a baby off Compared to discosomas and Ricordea Florida which tend to split by fission(at the oral plate mouth will split into 2 seperate specimens and others like actiniodiscus and neglectful detach and lacerated at the toot leaving behind a piece of it this will then form into a baby(much like the rbta that leave behind gob of foot)
Or if you're impatient u can cut them yourself and leave them in a basket of tubble in low flow low light
Looks like u got a aussie deepwater ricordea yuma culture there... which is more uncommon in the then indo or Taiwan aussie yumas tend to be more purple and blue gold compared to Taiwan which are generally exclusively orange or pinkish orange and indos are gold orange but get some greens and reds too the deeper u get the prettier ones are usually found between 50 and 100m and the best colored ones are often found on the underside of the rock
And are in tight dangerous trenches where a diver can find themselves in a pinchpoint with equipment, and put themselves at risk I've even heard a story before while being a wholesaler of an indonesian diver named thao diving for yumas at night he got taken in by the fierce riptide and had to cut off his own thumb to get loose or drown at night in the dark Indonesian waters, not only did the poor guy loose his index finger he also attracted a group of leopard sharks and had to dodge those on his way back up on the ascent losing a serious amount of blood he fainted at the waters surface and was in critical condition and had to be flown by helicopter to the nearest hospital 2 hours away
This was in the 2000s anyways nowadays most coral arent wild caught and if they are they're maricultured on racks in the ocean that acts temporary based until propigate removed and sold
But man that made me look at yumas in a whole new light people in the past have almost died to get these corals around the world
They're really something special and are probably my favorite coral just due to the sheer color variety and local variations oceanside
It's probably the most unique coralimorph out there and is misunderstood and underappreciatedand underestimated and value and is often disregarded for fancier highend mushrooms like jbs and bounce that are just crushing the market worldwide to the point were its flooded but back in the early to mid 2000s yuma were all the rage in high end coral collections as they came from 32 collection zones worldwide
But in 2010 wwc dropped the og bounce and killed the market for highend yumas why would u want a 50$ mushroom when you could be growing a more colorful showier mushrooms like the bounce or jawbreaker that were popping up around the same time
Alot of people into aquaculture frowned upon the idea of keeping yumas aswell as many were wild caught and that meant they wernt aquaculture and probe to contamination and stress due top adjusting to synthetic highlight conditions
People wernt happy about yumas melting either bacteria and pathogen used to be a real problem with wild yumas and you really wouldnt see it until like 2 to 4 weeks in captivity and many wholesalers were only for a week and then passing along the problem
And certain ones dont propigate well which detours many beginners as they are probe to pathogen unlike other mushrooms yumas are more sensitive when cut and if u decide to to this a heavy iodine dip is a must and then u gotta put em in low flow low light to heal or they just melt away on u
Used to be 10 to 30$ like most morph but now fetch more like 50 to 100$ nowadays as the price of everything has increased but granted some ppl may sell for above that or below it's all supply and demand like anything
Pffft dang wayyy more than what I spent! Plus I Just found out I have 2 more baby Yumas already growing so I actually have 5! Once they go out of control I’ll start selling them off
