I have had a mated pair for some time. Have had hit and miss results of saving the young. Several times, they were released into an urchin and were easy to get out of display tank.
If I was able to get the male our of display tank and place in breeder tank, how much time would I have before he ate the young?

Thanks. First post!

Welcome to R2R! Based on my experience with Banggai cardinalfish and many species of freshwater mouthbrooders, I have found that moving a fish that is holding eggs or fry in their mouth is stressful and will often trigger them to swallow or spit out the eggs/fry.
