Still encrusting well and is starting to purple up but this is probably short lived as we're supposed to be closing on a house late next month. Hopefully everything makes the transition with little drama but I'll undoubtedly have some fairly severe setbacks.

Just posted an update.
Doing OK so far for a 9weeks old SPS tank ;-)

Noticed that since a week I'm turning up the Ca reactor which is a good indication that my tank is finally starting to take off and made a step further into maturity.

March 15
~ 2mm (1/16") growth in overall vertical direction and good encrusting is going on at the base.
PE started 2 weeks ago and hard to see on the picture, a bit of metallic shimmering purple is coming through the skin ;-)

Februar 15 - for comparison, fresh from Battlecorals, still slimy ;-)

Mine is still not showing any growth. Barely encrusting the plug, even. o_O
I know it's only been like 2 months but this is still slower than expected.

I havent check on vertical growth (minimal if any) but it has been encrusting pretty quickly. I'd suspect something amiss in regard to the water quality, flow, and/or lighting if the same isn't true for others.

If your encrusting at about the same pace, you're probably in good shape.

Have you looked at it at night?? I have pretty high flow in my tank and throughout the day, most of my acros have very little polyp extension, at night however, they extend quite a bit. You can also try turning off your flow for 10-15 minutes and then checking your acros. Little to no water movement brings my polyps out right away. Ive read some anecdotal accounts of people who have ample 'food' available in their system having very little polyp extension as well, as the corals dont have to work to attain food - but Im not sure if thats accurate.

Nothing much new; continues to encrust but the coloration hasnt changed much nor has it grown vertically best I can tell. I may increase lighting intensity this weekend for giggles.

3-month-mark.jpg

here is my 3 month mark photo. little vertical, ore encrusting and coloring up a little bit. would have probably been further but had an issue with my ATO and it dulled out quite a bit.

Can't wait for my update on the upcoming weekend. The frag is doing really great. Nice PE and I see growth on all nibs.
The Color it's developing is truly insane, I hope I can catch it in the picture.
Purple, aquamarine/turquoise with a metallic shimmer on the skin......seems to be a really impressive coral ;-)
Glad I joined you guys on this contest ;-)

The frag is in about 450-500Par from what I measured.
Recent water parameter are in my built thread here:

I believe you are the only one to receive a fresh cut. Do you think this has helped with the growth? Kind of like when a coral is stalled on growth and you cut a branch it will sometimes get it to start growing.
