I have a Traeger and couldn’t be happier. Have had for about 4 years now and use it weekly. Have made everything from smoked salmon to prime rib, wings, brisket, ribs etc etc. only thing I didn’t like was the flimsy looking legs so I built a stand.

I’ve never had a swing that big. Something is definitely bad in that controller. Are you still under warranty?

I don't know. I had it for over a year before I even decided to put it together. I'm ordering a ReqTec 700 this month so doesn't really matter. I think I will enjoy the Reqtec more. It is supposed to stay within a few degrees and it has a 40lb hopper so that will keep a smoke going for a day or 2.

Hi all, I'm new to the BBQ thread here, but I dig cooking on a pellet smoker. I've had a Pit Boss for the past 3 years and love it. I reverse seared a turkey breast a couple nights ago and it came out juicy as always. My wife got one of those Popeye turkeys for Thanksgiving this year but I guarantee my smoked turkey breast will be gone first.

Sorry, LA guy here. I'll take a cajun fried turkey any day over a smoked turkey.

My BIL is from LA. He introduced me to fried turkey years ago and I love them. Used to make one every Thanksgiving all that peanut oil and hassle made me a convert to this...

Turkeys came out just as good as deep fried. The wife wants those Popeye's turkey that you have to bake so I've gone to smoking a turkey breast.

Nothing beats low and slow.

I bought some of the Nolan Ryan 34 steaks this weekend. Couple of minutes each side and they were amazing. Could cut them with a fork. I've also found a steak seasoning from a local company called Sucklebusters that I really like.

This thread reminds of that Seinfeld quote (or as Ron Washington says "Stinefeld):

“I’ll be there and I’ll be packing an artery.”

I've heard their Salt Pepper Garlic seasoning is their most popular, but I've never tried it. I've used the honey bbq glaze on my ribs and it is really good if you like sweet. The campfire steak seasoning is what I put on my steaks. I've also used their chili kit and it was pretty good. It is the only chili I've ever made so hard for me to really compare it to anything else. Rest of the family doesn't eat chili so I have a ton of leftovers if I make it.
