I purchased this from battlecorals last year, I have always thought it was shockwave but wondering now bc the polyps seem different (red not green). Any info is appreciated.

Given polyp color I was thinking space laser or frostbite but neither have the growth structure.

@Battlecorals
I wish I had that pe on my space laser :) polyps appear to be more red than the space laser

I could be wrong but my vote for Shockwave. Shockwave is listed as valida which matches the growth pattern of your coral while space laser is listed as donei which has different growth pattern.

I recently received a frag of shockwave from adam and color of polyp matches with yours.

Here is a pic of donei (reef builders)

I'm pretty sure it's a shockwave. This piece is kind of bipolar in my system too. I'll get some pictures. I've got a row of frags that look exactly like yours and a colony or two as well and I've got a few more that came from colonies that look more like this that ended up with a green tips.

Why that is? I cannot tell you. I'm guessing just weird tank chemistry stuff. Having said that, I will pay way closer attention to individual pieces and see if they switch and how they switch and what might be contributing factors

My shockwave has green polyps, but it's teeny weeny. Had to frag it and the one piece that survived is super green glow (like under the car green glow). Really cool.

Here’s my shockwave- it’s mostly green polyps but if you look closely at the top part of the coral you can see that similar color that’s on yours.

Appreciate the confirmation; it pops during the day and is a favorite; would be awesome if gets both.

totally hear you. I have not cracked to code on this thing. I've got frags in the same row from the same colony that look different. the more I think about its, its definitely weird.

id be curious if anyone else shock wave has the green tips or looks more solid purple.

Mine is purple with green tips.
ok Interesting! yeah that is definitely green. You know this has me thinking that this might be a cool piece for a grow out. Maybe we could quantify some of our parameters and figure this out.

that murderbath right behind shocky there? thats looking pretty good
