Best background color? Black or blue?

I'd like to paint my background of my tank with a sea blue color, but I am worried that algae will show. Should I paint it black to hide future algae or should I paint it with the color I really want (blue)?

Black is by far the best for photography. That's the only issue I had when I used blue

If you are committed to wipe that algae then paint it blue. I hate wiping algae and black is a great solution.

The compromise would be to use a very dark blue, or some kind of blue/dark blue, black pattern that wasn't solid and would distract your eyes from the algae on the glass.

Blue looks better, get a long scraper to keep it clean.

However, it only looks better if you don’t have black pumps and overflows and avast marine feeder tubes and cords and all other sorts of BS.

I went black to hide my equipment.

All personal preference but I have always used black. Makes the fish stand out better and hides any black equipment (like wavemakers).

I used a blue plastic sheet, then after a while the coralline and other stuff blocked the view anyway.
