I live in the PNW and weather is starting to change obviously. I’m looking to possibly buy a jackery for my 40 breeder in case of an outage. We don’t typically experience a lot of power outages during storms and typically never lose power more than 6-8 hours where I live.
I’m going to buy a small generator for the house but can anyone suggest a unit that my wife could easily plug in when I’m away for work for a short term solution to keep a little circulation in the tank, that doesn’t break the bank?

I think one of the battery backup that is hooked up all the time is a good way to go so it works if no one is home.
I use one on each of my return pumps.

I have a Sicce sdc 6 at 30 percent, you think a eco tech battery back up is a better option? I was thinking a jackery might work, I might be gone but there is generally someone home

I have an EcoFlow Delta (2 of them) and looking to add a @bluettipower . I am in SoCal and had the two big fires last January that knocked out my power for almost two weeks.

Yes, it was great for running the tanks for that power outage period. I did have to go to my office where there was power and recharge but that only took 2 hours and was every other day only. I ran air stones during the two hours everything wasn’t running. I’m looking to upgrade before the next wave of Santa Ana winds hit and put us out again!

No. A battery back up like the ecoflow. I do not know the Jackery but it might be fine. I just have Ecoflows and one Anker.

Bluetti has a wide range of products, those small units don't last long with most reef tanks. I bought that $149 one, scoped for how long my power was supposed to be out, but nothing went to plan, including how long it kept things running.

I would focus on return pumps and wave makers only unless you need the heaters due to climate.

But I'd be looking more at their apex line, which is a big jump in performance, and of course price.

Any idea roughly how long one of the small jackery or bluettis last for a return pump?

Grab a 1500VA UPS unit for the tank. This will buy you 3 hours with everything running usually.

Grab a Honda inverter generator for the longer outages. I use a EU3000is model and have had it for over 14 years. Still a great unit and as good as new.

Also consider way to heat your house, either by plugging your furnace into the Benny or wood/gas stove.

not really, and its usually hard to figure unless you have dc pumps, the ac->dc converter chews up a ton of the longevity of the backup time.

Like I have that $150 bluetti, and I have a fancy wireless phone and watch charger stand, I went camping, plugged that in to the bluetti, and the bluetti was almost dead in the morning.... Just for a phone and watch charger (but if I had used the USB chargers for each, probably would last a week or more)

Ok noted. I want something a little easier than running power cords from a generator for my wife but not spend the money. Can’t have both lol
