I'll keep it brief, I have a Waterbox 230.6. I'm not at all impressed with the filter sock chamber. The socks don't seal to the acrylic holder so only half the water is truly getting filterd. Not only that but I'm sick of changing socks every 3-6 days and sick of going to the laundromat every month (wife forbade me to wash socks in our washer at home 😆).

I want a Fleece roller.
Anyone who is familiar with waterbox sumps will know what I mean but the water drains into a skinny chamber on the back then goes to the sock chamber. I do not want to give up that chamber as my heater, UV and doser lines are in there.

With a Redsea Mat 1200 I would lose that chamber as the Reefmats get plumed directly from the drain. I could however take a pump off the shelf and add it into the return pump chamber and hard pipe it to circulate water back into that rear chamber. The only thing I don't like about that is that's another link in the chain that could fail. Additionally I would have to take some time getting a balance of flow rate. I would assume the Reefmat is a superior roller compared to the Klir Di-7 but I'm un-sure

The Klir has its benefits as #1 it drops right into my sock chamber with no plumbing needed. Also I have a large Hydros collective that I know the Klir would integrate into well. Not sure what the comparison of effectiveness between the two rollers is. Can anyone offer any insight on these two?

To start your going to have detritus get into the sump even with a roller if that's a concern.
I have a reefmat 500 in one tank and love it. I tried a clear Di 7 in my WB 330.7 and TBH it was such a pain to change fleece that I went back to socks after the first roll. I use 200 micron mesh socks and clean them out in minutes with a garden hose. I don't keep a pristine sump.
I'm not sure that back chamber has to be removed to install a reefmat in the sump but I'm going from memory. I looked into and would love to add one to my 330 but getting down and working under the tank is challenging these days.

EDIT: Here is one on a 330.7 that looks pretty darn nice. Ot looks like the back chamber is intact

Hey thanks a lot for sharing your experience! What I was saying about the back chamber of the sump was not removing it but wanting it to still be functional. As I see on your pictures... (Beautiful looking tank by the way) Is that as I suspected to the drain lines from the tank plumb directly to the Roller meaning that the rear drain chamber where those pipes would normally drain into does not have water in it anymore. This personally creates an issue because I use that back chamber. I may still end up going with the Klir because of this that I can just drop it in my sock holder and still have a functioning drain chamber before it. That and it integrates with the Hydros system which I use a lot!
