Recently added an orange shoulder tang, the second day he had to black blotches on his side. They look like scales are missing, I assumed he had maybe ran into the rocks trying to squeeze into some place he couldn't fit. ht blotches arent getting any better, I can not tell if they are getting worse, but they arent looing good. Hes still acting normal and eating well. However as im typing this i am noticing he is letting the wrasse pick at his side. Is this ich? or another type of disease?

Probably a bacterial infection: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/bacterial-infections.191511/

It could be due to the wounds getting infected from bacteria in the water, or he might have already had harmful bacteria growing on his skin when you purchased him.

Either way, I would treat this with antibiotics in a QT: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/antibiotics.283711/

Due to the severity, I recommend using Nitrofuracin Green Powder or this combination: Kanaplex + Furan-2 + Metroplex.

A 90 min bath using acriflavine would also be helpful in this situation: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/acriflavine.282887/
