Got a new starry blenny for my birthdayafter wanting one for awhile now. Wanted to know who else has blennies, and to share some pics.

Here is my new guy, wresting on some hairy mushrooms.

I've got a starry, orange-spot and midas - love 'em all.

The starry has been picking up sand, I suppose to get the algae. Whenever she swims, she looks like she's having trouble staying off the floor. Wherever she swims, there's a gentle flurry of pure white sand ... from her butt.

Cool blennies everyone. Funwithfishes, congrats on your new starry blenny!

These striped blennies (Chasmodes bosquianus) are blennies that I caught from the Chesapeake Bay and am currently keeping them in my oyster reef tank. I have 6 of them. The top picture is what they look like as juveniles when I caught them 6 months ago. They were about an inch to an inch and a half long then. Now the biggest one is about 3 inches long and could grow as much as another inch or two. I can't get enough of watching them.

They look very cool. I really like the Blennies. My LFS says that my BioCube 16 is probably too small for one of them. Can't wait for my newly set up RS 525 to mature so I can get one. What do they need for food and is there any special care to keep them happy? Not trying to highjack the thread!! Just love the fish.

I sadly don't have a blenny right now, which is weird because they are one of my favorite fishes! I used to have a bicolor blenny I called Blenns that would do this:

That picture is in my old Aqueon Evolve 8 that I started this hobby in, I've learned a whole lot about reef aquariums and blennies since then :D

Lawnmower blennies for me are harder. If you get them trained to eat what you feed then they are fine. If they don’t and depend solely on scrapping off algae, it can be tough, especially if you clean up the tank regarding algae and then they have nothing to eat and don’t know how to feed from what you provide. That is what I’ve experienced. In regards to your 16gal, a Tail Spot, Panamic Barnicle, or Yellow Eye should be fine depending on what you have in there. They are small but all have great personalities.

I agree with Flexin. Another species to consider is the Caribbean sailfin blenny (Emblemaria pandionis). They're a nice nano blenny as well. These guys along with the tail spot, Panamic barnacle blenny (Acanthemblemaria hancocki) will eat just about anything too.
