Blue ring octopus one Ebay

I think someone should report this to ebay... There's no way this auction is going to end well for whoever buys such a creature via the internet.

I had one blue ring about five years ago. Kept it in a small tank with a fine mash screen taped over the top with an acrylic hood over it. Was one of the coolest pets I ever had. Ended up selling it to a phd student from the university who was actually doing research on these octos. I did make him sign a waver and had him bring me a signed letter from the head professor in the lab.

These guys are no joke and should only be kept by professionals who know how to handle deadly animals.

When I had that thing in the shop my mom tried to talk me into flushing it down the toilet everyday after she found out it could kill me with a bite. My father on the other hand thought it was way too cool and made me research the hell out of it. I did have some training with poisonous and venomous animals before that

My LFS had one in a low tank with no lid. The Octo was in a plastic container with holes in it and a rock on top. No sign. No warnings. The worst part is that this LFS is in a huge tent and has ~27,000g of saltwater tanks in 3 back to back rows with one staff member out there if you are lucky. Most of the time you have to go back to the lawn and garden section to find someone if you want to buy anything. This place has also carried 6' eels, white tip reef sharks and barracuddas!

It's all OK 'till they need a body bag.

WHAT? Where is that place? i have got to check that out.:nerd:

i agree this is 100% a really bad idea. BUT what gets me is the price. why so much? i have seen these for sale four times in the local area. twice at the same store in tampa and two other times at store in pinellas. they were not even close to 500 bucks. matter a fact recall thinking to myself that i wished they cost alot to keep just anyone from buying one. if i recall it was hardly 100 bucks

It has been taken off auction. But, if he was doing it to advertise then it was a success, there are three pages on this forum about it...
