I often wonder about things with ltd in the naming. Such as a jeep grand cherokee limited, Taurus limited and I think Why would you want to put limited in the name? Is it not as good as the other versions? Now I am beginning to understand...I guess my understanding of why was ltd. Thank you.

Seeing how they talk to others, attack others, and don’t want to communicate in any way with those contradicting their claims shows they aren’t worth spending a dollar with for any reason.

What fear mongering am I falling for? I found a three part system that works for my specific system better than what AFR was doing for me. With my PsyD and MBA am I just too illiterate to understand? Are you saying that Mr. Paletta is conspiring with FM to fool us all? Insulting people helps no one. In fact, while unlikely, can be considered libelous.
Having been involved with product claims and liability most of my career in one way or another, I am aware that MOST manufacture claims are suspect with no negative ramifications largely because the FTC was rendered ineffectual in the 80's. I don't have the knowledge to know the specific impact of everything we put in our tanks and as a result have probably wasted a lot of money on ineffectual products in the hopes that they might improve coral growth and overall health in my system. I am reminded of that every time I look in my garage and see all of the stuff I no longer use that at the time was the new miracle product that would fix everything. I would love to have a "reef consumer reports" to rely on but so far no one has stepped up to the plate to pay for it.
The Bolus system works for me and is an inexpensive alternative. I got a PH boost, improved growth and coloration compared to AFR. Don't care if it doesn't make scientific sense because I can see the results. As far as something "magical" happening, no, I don't buy it for a second just like I don't buy that I can sit a look at my reef all day and lose weight. Am I a "plant" for FM?" No, in fact I don't use their ICP tests or any other other FM products but again, even if it is the no different than other three part systems available, it is working better than anything else has so I will stick with it for now at least. Feel free to continue to insult those of us you think of as gullible all you want.

Paletta will jump to another method as soon as he feels the need to. He changes methods more than I change lights and that’s okay. We all make this hobby whatever we want it to be. Just be honest though of why you’re doing something. Don’t try to justify it with big claims that hold no bearing.

Did you try increasing the lights on your tank while dosing AFR? Have you tried breaking the sodium bicarbonate dosing up into equal parts throughout the day?

Saying that kalkwasser and Sodium carbonate will create "old tank syndrome " is fear mongering in my book. I usually look the other way when people say things I don't agree with. But to dissuade people from using tools that might help them, in order to pitch your product is over the line for me.

I may regret wading in here as I don’t have a dog in this fight, but I’ll make a couple comments based on how I see it.

I read the comment you replied to as meant to be insulting to the business selling the product. I can see how a user of the product would take offense, but i didn’t read it that way. I think the frustration vented in this thread is aimed at the business and the unsupported/unscientific claims and the behavior of a couple individuals connected to the business.

I think it’s fine you use and benefit from a product you don’t fully understand. I do too. I dose NP Bactobalance by TM and I don’t really know what’s in it. But like the results.

I also understand this is a reef chemistry forum, and chemistry is often as important or more important in the conversation than how the tank or animals are doing. Honestly the chemistry is a big part of the hobby for me an others here. I am not saying that’s good or bad, but that is where we are.

If not for the highly defensive and insulting behavior of those associated with this business, this thread would have gone in a different direction. An argument could be made that others have fanned the flames and engaged, but in my opinion if someone is going to represent a business or product online they should conduct themselves more professionally.

Nobody has personally attacked you. I think the general idea is that Claude uses very complex sounding science as a marketing tool and that most people are not equipped to determine if that science is valid or not. Those people that are capable of speaking to it are brushed off for various reasons.

You observations are fine. Nobody is asking you to prove them, but they are anecdotal and subjective and that goes back to the prior point about marketing and the fact that this is what Claude relies on to refute people questioning his scientific claims.

To that end, even if your observations are verifiable and correct, they do not prove that Claude's explanation of the science is correct, and that is what most of the debate here is. He has laid out numerous very specific scientific claims at both a chemical and biological level that simply don't make sense and is backing by citing people such as yourself who simply say "it works".

He may as well be describing the small gerbil in your wristwatch that keeps perfect time by running on a mini treadmill and having the accuracy of a crystal oscillator because of their magnetic homing ability. You may not believe that this is how your watch works, but plenty of people will....
