Bought my first coral, what was yours?

Was going to go to my LFS this weekend to pick my first. But after checking some of the sites i trust, I found one of the corals that helped me want to get into the hobby. A nice Utter Chaos in their WYSIWYG.

I'm so excited about it. Wanted to ask what everyone else got as their first coral and how happy/successful they were with it

My fist coral was a colony of dark purple mushrooms I got at the only LFS in Boerne (pronounced Burney in Texas) back 1987. Wasn't too successful as all I had were generic fluorescent bulbs and "plant" bulbs I later learned had very low intensity. Didn't know about actinic bulbs until a year or two later when John Burleson wrote an article about their use for coarls in "Marine Monthly".

My first coral was a blue discosoma I got locally. It lasted a few months but ultimately shriveled and disappeared.

This Duncan was my 1st. Only had 3 or 4 heads then.

My first coral was FREE and boy — it started to multiply fast. I was so excited and even hand-fed these little boogers. Later I found out that they were aiptasias!

Same! I got a rock with like 10 purples and another one with reds. They flourished like crazy though. They got huge! I sold the tank since then and got a diff one and then sold it as I moved. I wish I could find those again. They were really different!!!! Just found a pic lol
