Need some advice,

I been having GHA here and there. My nitrates where up to 20ppm. I got them down to 5ppm but the hair algae keeps growing. My Phosphate is at 0.03

I also have brown algae growing on the sand it’s thick and grows over it . When I do water changes it comes up but only returns. What is it?

I’m going to raise my mag to 1500 as I have read that can take away GHA.

My RODI TDS shows 0.00

I’m growing cheto but maybe it’s the wrong light? Also protein skimmer running 24/7

It’s a sign you need more cuc. Don’t sweat the numbers.

Snails. Chonk for the sand , turbos turbans and astria for the gha.

With my recent bout of cyano:

1. I stopped dosing nopox. It feeds bacteria, both good and bad.
2. Used a turkey baster to blow all the cyano off my rock work
3. Used a turkey baster to blow all the cyano off my sand
4. Waited an hour or so for the cloud in my tank to clear
5. Changed my filter pad

I repeated this every day for about two and a half weeks. After the first week it started to get better, and by the end of the second and a half it was 99% clear.

I wouldn't go to chemiclean until last resort.

I am facing the same thing right now as well. I stopped dosing nopox as well and just trying to be patient. I vacuum it up every few days

Also the carbon dosing may be feeding the bacteria. It’s a common side effect.

Yea, prob stop that too. Bacterias can also metabolize it.

One thing to check in your reactor is that you have enough flow. If you don’t the bacteria die and go anerobic. Common in bio pellets.

Ok, I’ll stop the acropower for now and I’ll check my reactor. It seems it’s fast tho imo
