BRS 50 mL per min doser comments?

I’ve only used the 1.1 mL per min doser.

Any user comments on the 50 mL per min version?

I have both. I used the 50ml version combined with a cheap digital timer to dose kalk and it worked great.

What is there to comment about? It’s just like the 1.1 but much faster. I used one as an ATO for a couple of years but recently made my own out of a kamoer head that does 600ml/m. The 50 was taking several minutes to top off.

lol that’s true. But it isn’t a piece of crap. But it is loud. Mine worked great. It just didn’t keep up with a bigger tank.

I just purchased 3 a few weeks ago. I haven’t used them with fluid yet, but they seem very quiet and fast to me when I plugged them in.

No need, but thanks for the input. Unlike lights in my living room tank, the dosers will be in the basement and could be enclosed or covered if too noisy. I’d use two for AWC. From the BRS suggestion of non constant use, a bunch of 15-30 minute periods on a timer would suffice for me. :)

Versa dosers would be an alternative.

Why not make your own? I used this pump. I made mine to be powered by a hydros drive port but you can easily use a cheap power supply to run it.

The Kamoer FX-STP is hands down the best Peristaltic pump in the hobby Heavy metal case and components. Truely continuous duty from .1 ml to 120 ml min and dead silent at low speeds. I have a DOS QD as well and the FX-STP is far better build quality. I wish Neptune used the same motor setup/speed control as the FX-STP The DOS QD is only continuous duty at 3 different speeds 7/12/25 ml min

You can get them on AliExpress for about half the price, but I guess it depends on what your budget for the project is? Everyone has a different budget in mind. It is a much better, more precise, true continuous duty pump and no timer needed. The BRS ones have been around for 20 years, I've had both, they are loud if that matters.

Tubing wears due to flexing and elongation and friction. The faster the pump runs, the faster the tubing wears.

Given same flow and tubing size…

2 roller is least wear and slowest RPM for a given flow.

4 roller creates a bit smoother flow but runs twice as fast (for same flow) and creates twice as many pinch and elongation cycles, albeit the elongation is a bit less.

6 roller even smoother flow, but 3x the speed and wear.

8 roller… etc.

Roller and housing design also have a lot to do with wear. The FX-STP will have to run 4x as fast. It has 8 rollers. I assume the head is higher precision and will mitigate some wear vs a cheaper head, but its main benefit is the very smooth flow (8 pulses vs 2) per revolution.

Not a fan of BRS quality, but overall the 2 roller design and lower speed are likely the best bang for the buck as long as the head doesn’t eat tubing and the head pressure works for you.

I use the versas for awc, they are easy to calibrate and match input and output, if that is important to you.

The 1.1ml brs pumps are consistent, but not accurate ime. I have 4 and they put out 1.6, 1.8, 1.8 and 1.9 ml per minute. Have not used the 50ml version.

I have both and have used them for years. The BRS is noisy like you said and needs controlled by something for on off cycles. The Kamoer is silent (I have 3 and they are all silent) and it can run continuously so you just program what you want and let it go. I like them for my CARX. Like someone mentioned if you get it on aliexpress it isn’t that bad a price for a continuous duty and silent (huge for me since I have 2 in my living room) doser. I also have GHL dosers and you can always hear when they are running just for comparison.

Every BRS doser I own is still in perfect working condition after 5-8 years. They vary a bit in how loud they are. Some are silent and some make a bit of noise.

For simple timed tasks there is simply nothing better for the price/longevity.

I used the 50ml/min for as topoff years before I upgraded to a Tunze 3155, another bulletproof device since put in service.

This is exactly why I don't understand why mfgs rate tubing life by hours. 50ml min is going to wear the tubing 50 times faster than 1 ml min in the same number of hours of operation.
