BRS doser vs Drew’s Doser

I’ve been looking for a doser for AFR on my system and was hoping to get the BRS 1.1 mL per min type. I’ve had good success with them in the past, but they are out of stock.
The Drews Doser version 2 (in stock but more expensive) seems to have similar specs.

Any comments on the Drews doser?

I don't, but I use the Simplicity 4-head pump for AFR. It gives you 3 extra pumps for another $60.

I'm curious, why you are going in the direction of a low speed pump for AFR? Using it with a controller I assume?

I use a Jebao 4 head doser for AFR. Works well and for half the cost of a Simplicity doser (which I like and also does well)

BRS has had those pumps on sale for 2 years so I suspect they will be discontinued.

No experience with the newer ones but I have two brs 1.1 ml dosers and digital timers sitting on a shelf. One is new and one ran for a week. I'd be more than happy to send you one. Send a DM if your want one.

Drew's doser pre-dates the 1.1ml, they are more solid. The new 2.0 is still sold by BRS.

They are 1.6ml/min vs 1.1ml

I use the Kamoer F1 on 3 systems, 6 pumps, for 2 part. Simple to program, setup, and use.
This is on my 10g aio nano.
I use the same setup for 2 other systems. Simplicity 2L containers are used.

Check out the Coralvue version of the BRS doser. Its 2ml/min but functions the same (AC motor, turn on it doses). https://www.coralvue.com/hydros-2ml-min-dosing-pump

It's a Kamoer head/motor assembly but has 4 rollers compared to the 2 rollers the BRS doser uses, so it actually has better accuracy.

It says HYDROS on it, but does not require hydros... just something to turn it off/on (timer, apex, etc)

I have been running Kamoer X1 PRO2 WiFi dosers for AFR about 4 years now with zero issues. The app is nice and functional.

Best part is no app to run it. No “smart” features. Just decades of proven reliability

I use this same pump for my afr and it works great so far (less than a year so no long term comment). Have it dose 5 times a day when lights are on only. My alkalinity is very stable with a combo of this and a touch of kalk in my ato for a pH boost. I’ve seen growth rates and AFR usage increase since starting to add the kalk in my ato. I am wanting to switch to a continuous dosed kalk drip for more pH stability but just haven’t made the move yet.

Wow. I have 2 of the 50 mL/min (new) and two of of 1.1 mL/min from years ago, and I don’t hear anything from them.

I would be using it on an electronic timer. I’m thinking a daily dose might be less than 100 mL for a good while. Too little for a 50 mL/min, but a little faster than the 1.1 mL/min would be good. The Drews would be fine.

I'll second the Jebao 4 head doser. Setting it up is a little counterintuitive, but it's cheap and it works fine. I'm literally just using one head to dose AFR, but I guess that gives me four spare heads (they give you a spare with the unit). Or if you ever decide you want to dose anything else, you have three extra pumps ready to go.
