Budget lighting

Hello,

I am looking at upgrading the light that came on my Aquatop Recife 40 g cube. I don’t wanna spend a ton of money. I want a light that will grow as I grow into more difficult corals. Any advice would be appreciated.

I invested in 4 of these. The interface is a bit clunky and there is no connectivity but they work well. I am running 4 over a 6 foot 24 inch deep tank at 45% to start. They make plenty of light.

I would look for a "GOOD" used light honestly. Most of the black box LEDs and off brand stuff is lacking in quality for the long haul.

well matters the budget, but smatfarms, and led bars are both good quality but cheaper lights. Light bars range in price from aliexpress ones, 21led, Orphek, Quanta, Reefbrite, etc. There are a lot of options if going that route

I am personally looking at an orphek icon compact for a 24" x 24" tank but that is $580.
Chihiros is a new led light with nova 1 at $370 and seems to be a little more powerful than the radion xr15, but i havent seen it yet

Lets drop one of my old Viparspectras and one of the "GOOD" lights onto concrete from 5 feet and see which still works.
I have already tested one of the Viparspectra but I have another.

smatfarm on amazon is 130ish... impressive for the price though I wish it had some more blue to it. I hear adding a cheap blue bar fixes that.

Don’t forget if they weren’t in the reef monopoly and sold on amazing they would be half the price or even less

Can't go wrong with NooPsyche. I recently swapped out the aging Kessils over my 180 with them and am extremely happy. Do not confuse inexpensive with cheap- these lights are amazing! @Zach B can answer any questions you may have and get you sorted out.
