I lost my Rhodomonas Lens phyto colony (red). My fault due to contamination. The Tetraselmis Chuii is just fine. Will be ordering some red or brown phyto here shortly. I did add some half gallon jars to make it easyer to keep them clean and sterile when harvesting and starting a new batch. Just harvested yesterday, the pic is the new batch.

I was looking for a way to keep detritus or uneaten food from getting in my sump. It appeared to be coming from the trickle of water coming down my emergency drain. I figured I would try this for a couple of weeks to make sure there is no negative effects. The sock holder is off Amazon and came with 2 socks . Have to keep a watchful eye on my nutrients to make sure they don't bottom out.

I have had crew of Mexican Turbo snails for over a year, they have doubled in size easily. One of the snails has always had a bump on its shell, I passed this off as a deformity in the shell. Well that's changed, I finaly got a good look at him and low and behold, a clam hitchhiker.

Been checking out my new mag stirrer, works great. should make mixing AFR, BRS magnesium, and making small batches of saltwater for the phyto easy. The beaker kit will make sanitizing the phyto water easier . Have a 2000 ml beaker on the way. Everything was fairly cheap, but the 2000 ml beaker cost me $20

Now that is something I might consider getting whenever I set my tank back up!

Coraline algae is basically 2 colors at the moment, Green and purple. I thought the green was not coralline, but it is hard and crusty like the purple. I have cleaned it off the powerheads, front and side glass. Its a slow growth but I have patience . cant tell the colors in the pic under blues on my phone, what looks orange is purple, what looks blue is green. Its on my weir

I do know now that the clam is alive, just shinning my flashlight on it made it close up. So I have an odd hitchhiker and a good dose of coralline algae that came in with my turbo's over a year ago.
