Cabbage coral on substrate

Can cabbage coral be kept on the substrate? Will the tissue be irritated? I rarely see any sand covering it and it seems happy but for the bottom half touching the sand. It never seems to as fully extend. Should I prop the rock it’s on up off the sand?

You can always place a small flat rock under it if you want to keep it directly out of the sand.

I think it will be ok. It will eventually cover that whole rock and color up hopefully.

Mine has mostly been growing on the sand and has been fine and starting to grow onto the rocks
