I ordered that feeder, what pellets are you using? I just looked and there's seriously so so many kinds and brands and I got lost.

The BRS ones are only because they're the smallest I could find and I have a few extra tiny fish in there. Everything else is about the same size. Some fish seem to like certain ones more. The Fauna Marin line is a favorite of everyone though, same w/ the Nyos goji ones. I got the Hikari because they had great reviews and I thought the foxface would like it, he prefers the others, I find those ones floating on the bottom more than any other type - they're shaped a little differently so I can tell which they were. They're also the only ones (other than the BRS) that are actual hard pellets. Everything else is soft.

Me too! I’ve been trying to find a copper band but no luck! They worked great in the past for me.. the ones I see come in today are sick in the fish store and don’t last a couple days. :frowning-face:

Same. I need a Copper Band or Filefish but no Filefish lately and all the CBBs are skinny and sickly looking.

Honestly I don't think I needed them... I got them when I got the firefish & the tiny neon goby (which either got eaten or died) thinking they'd need them but the firefish eat the soft pellets with no problems at all. I'll continue to mix them in to use them up, but I won't bother repurchasing in the future.

My Neon was fairly small but I've definitely seen a lot smaller ones available for sale. I feed the Ocean Nutrition Formula 1 small pellets which are pretty tiny and the Ocean Nutrition Formula 2 flakes. I've never seen the Neon or Sharknose eat anything but they're both healthy looking. They're constantly cleaning the other fish though.

Local-to-work fish store that I very-much dislike has these guys in stock right now. Would be such a cool addition in the bigger tank if I had it already, and if they were from anyone other than that fish store...

Tank looks good this morning :)

Happy with the new rock. IDK what different setting I set up these lights on this time but I noticed my cabbage is coloring up some. Maybe just a side effect of growth in general, not certain. Instead of just being tannish/brown it has hints of green on the polyps now.

Making some saltwater for my culturing. All that comes in today... I also want to start doing bbs @Mhamilton0911 what setup are you using for that?

I went w/ the reef by steele stuff this time, I had already reached out to him by the time anyone shared any info. Hopefully it works out for me.

I'm actually using the repurposed jar, lid and rigid airline I got from Mercer of Montana for phyto. So far I've tried about 4 different vessels and I thought this jar was the easiest. Too small of water volume and the egg shells and unhatched eggs mix with the hatched bbs too easily so it makes it harder to siphon the bbs cleanly. I'm making more than the ponies need, but I feed some to every tank. Corals love it, every fish goes for it.

I did try the airless bbs Hatcher from BRS, that's just the round dish and they hatch and swim to the center. This did work really well, but didn't hatch enough volume.

I'll be feeding the ponies soon so I can take some pictures of the set up/process of you like. Really the only step I do that you won't need is plop it in warm water for quicker hatching. But it's cold here so I need that extra heat for stability. Hatching in 24hrs at 80f. They will hatch at room temp but takes 48 hrs or longer.

I'd love some photos. I plan on feeding to the tank in general even before I get ponies. I have the pellet feeder set to a few times a day in smaller amounts but I'd rather do live for pickier fish, especially if I'm considering adding a cbb again & ordered another cow. Maybe that would help there.

My wife and daughter have been doing 24 hour bread lately. My daughter isn't fond of sourdough so we probably won't go full that way.

When I was feeding the baby cardinals I made a model for a super big hatchery and printed a few. They worked great and made a ton of bbs

I’m just curious, does anyone here keep urchins successfully in a higher phosphate regime? I’m researching this different urchin types right now because in a month or so I might get some. Problem is that with my high phosphates I’m not so sure if they’ll live or not. I have LaCl on hand if I need to lower phosphates. As high as they are I should try to get them down a little at least.

My old tank was pretty high phosphates, my Halloween urchin had no issues

My long spike took a hit when my alk spiked. no issues with phos.

Immediately overwhelmed. Wish I didn't feel like garbage so I could focus on this better.
