Look at it 😍

So, back home with our new hobie. Of course, we're slammed the rest of my days off this month then we're headed to Helen so IDK that we'll be able to take it out until mid October 😢

Heard back from Orphek already, they gave me a couple mounting options that are compatible and not ceiling mounts, then asked a couple questions about specific dimensions and coral stock to help me fine tune if I decide to go that route (I probably will). 🤞

Now I just need to figure out this calcium/alkalinity situation in the peninsula. In the meantime, maybe I should consider some water changes?? 😢

Finally splurged (small potatoes when compared to the cost of the Hobie or the lights I'm considering, but still....) and ordered the Tropic Marin Hydrometer I've been eyeballing for awhile. Maybe my salinity is messed up and that's contributing? I've calibrated my optical thing a million times but I don't trust it and my eyes together.

Im so scared of that thing, but I haven't broke mine yet!

I think it arrives tomorrow, along with some PNS.

I'm hoping to check salinity, do some water changes and corrections if necessary, and then start moving corals/fish from the cube to the peninsula once things seem stable.

Actually, I didn't think to test the cube and see where that is for calcium/alk - I wonder if it's through the roof as well 🤔

I just moved the baby birds from the brooder to the coop now that the adults are all roosting.

Adults are just over a year old. Babies are 8 weeks old.

I'm nervous about wakeup tomorrow morning but 🤞🏻🤞🏻 hopefully this goes smoothly.

I may have missed it, but have you tested freshly mixed water, how did it compare? How does everything in the peninsula look, do you trust those test results?

Maybe, tomorrow, you can post a pic of Fluffles..? And the rest...

What's there to be nervous about with wake up tomorrow?

No, because I haven't done water changes in ages so it's not like I'm regularly adding mixed water to raise it.

But I did test my top off and it was void of either.

Nervous about the introductions between the hens, I'm worried the older hens are going to overly bully the younger additions.

Forget water change- mix a cup of sw to see if you get the expected test results..

Do they make acclimation boxes for chickens?

I don't even remember what salt was used last when I mixed things, that's how long it's been because I'm the worst (literally, the worst). But if I'm not dosing, and I'm not changing, and it's not coming from the top off - why is it increasing?

I picked up some basic instant ocean to do some changes to hopefully drop levels a little bit. I'll check what happens with a test of a little of that tomorrow.

I guess im questioning the test results themselves...

So far no real drama, there was one small kerfuffle but no feathers pulled or anything so far. Just a squawk. 3 of the babies haven't left the coop for the run yet, all the adults are out.

Yes I know that blue bin is filthy, it's the standing in water. The hanging green thing on the left is the clean drinking water. I clean out the blue one 3x a week so they can stand in it to cool off and they kick all their substrate into it.
