UPDATE. Everything is looking gorgeous right now. New growth and heads everywhere, probably from stress? I heard that's a thing. But no sign of dinos yet, usually they're back in 3 days, only time will tell. Fingers crossed. I will add the fish and inverts and other corals and things I chose to take out during the blackout period this weekend. Thank you everyone for your help! Next mission will be making my own phyto.

Next question would be what are your parameters right now?

That blackout can throw things out of wack for a while, so keep an eye on those parameters!

Here is my tests for tonight Phos was .2 and dosed neophos to bring to .4. Dosed a mixture of epsom salt and baked baking soda around 25 mL l. Salinity is 1.022 tank full to the rim with top off.

3 days since lights came back on. I started blues at 25% and moved up 25% each day, tomorrow will be full blue and the next day I will start whites at 25% moving up the same rate over the next 4 days to be at max light. Not running bubbler since water change. No coral bleaching, no death, no dinos.

*2nd photo was before blackout and water changes. I did 15 gal water change with rodi and IO salt.

Will be dosing more epsom salts and calcium tonight (maybe a little more baked baking soda) and returning fish by the weekend.

SO... I calibrated my refractometer and it was way off.. it was at 40 meaning my tanks have been at around 1.019 at the max for probably the past 8 months. Could this be why I had dinos in the first place? Low nutrients? I swear it's one thing after another, atleast maybe everything will be straightened out now

Idk if cause of Dino’s , but the low salinity would definitely cause the big three elements to be not stable / where you want them atleast it’s an easy fix just top off with saltwater

Blackouts do not work for dino's. They may make then less unsightly, but they just return eventually.

You need more nutrients in the water to grow "other" algaes that will outcompete the dino's for the nutrients. While growing algae may also be unsightly, "other" algaes are easier to mop up.

I did read all 4 pages initially, but don't remember now, has the strain of dino's been IDed here?

Never battled Dino's for more then a couple weeks, and I've had them a couple times over the course of 20 years.

Many known and proven methods in the algae section if people would just read them instead of devising their own method that never works.

Unfortunately Dino’s wil always be present in yr tank! It is always in mine, just need to keep a favorable environment for other algae that prohibit Dino’s bloom , keep nutrients in the water and eventually the biome will adjust to minimal Dino’s

Yes ostreopsis. I think I'm just going to have to purchase another UV sterilizer

Yes I did dose some phytoplankton and I'm starting to culture it, I'm sure that will help alot
