New video for your viewing pleasure. Do you guys think the green goni is getting too much flow? I have only seem it extended fully one time and that was before I moved it to where it is now.

I think the flow at the Goni looks pretty good, I've seen them get even more than that... maybe it's lighting?

I don't know. I know a lot of people say Goni's like low to medium light and low to medium flow. I would say if anything it may have too much light which is causing it not to fully extend as more of a concern if anything. My goni gets pretty high flow and is fine. Gorgeous tank though!

Thank you! It was actually in more light before I moved it.

It's getting a lot of flow, but it is random which tends to be better for most corals than lateral flow (straight across one direction).

With that said, I've actually seen some very happy Gonis in pretty heavy lateral flow and in fairly high light.

Too much or too little? I really don't know where I could put it with less light because it's near the middle of the tank pretty far from where the two lights are centered. I hope that makes sense... lol

I'd say lighting is good. Flow looks pretty erratic flow for them.

I really don't know, i've never had luck with them so I'm not qualified to answer lol! Just from observation though from others tanks, they can really handle some harsh flow.

I do have the wave makers on a random flow setting at 6.

My goniopora don’t really “like” to be moved or handled I notice. How long has it been in that spot? It looks ok just not fully extended or adjusted. Mine can all handle pretty intense flow as I cater more to SPS with my flow setup. I made a “cute” short of mine if you want to see what mine look like flow wise. About 200-250 par too. They actually have more flow now as I’ve added another flow pump. With how it looks now I wouldn’t make any drastic changes because at least it’s extending some.

Thank you!

I would observe each longer before I moved it again. It may just need to settle in to the new spot. I’ve had them not look “perfect”
for days and then all of the sudden they’re back in full swing.

Thank you so much! I just really really like this coral and want it and the other gonis I have arriving tomorrow to be happy and thrive! I see you are in Greenville is that Greenville SC? If so you aren't too far from me and we are kind of neighbors. Lol

It looks like ideal flow to me Amanda!

Amanda gonis will sometimes close all day because you looked at them too long, then they'll be happy for 2 weeks or longer continuously. It's important to research the corals desired parameters, ask questions and find a good spot that aligns with that info, which I think you have. Then after letting them settle and observing them for a while, you can adjust based on what the corals reactions are.

You gotta make sure that they're really not happy before moving them to another spot!

I did research them and according to what I found I do think it's in a good spot according to what I learned when researching them. I'm excited about my other ones arriving tomorrow!

Yes, technically, Taylors, South Carolina. About 15 minutes from downtown Greenville.

Hi! 👋 I know there’s a couple of people on here from Atlanta I’ve interacted with. I’ve actually met a few people here from Greenville area too. Kinda fun to see some Southeast Reefs! I’m not sure if I’ve ever been to Sylva, but I’ve heard of it. Quick maps check and it’s about 60 miles from here.

Its a small town most people have no idea where it is but its near Cherokee where there is a casino. I use to go to Greenville often for a freshwater aquarium club I use to be in a long time ago. There were a lot of nice aquarium stores there back then.
