The wifey and I an boy wonder have a tad bit of money laying around and want a new camera. We have had point and shoot for years but want to step up to a camera that we can get great pics with including a macro lense. Please give me some feedback on this. It needs to be somewhat user friendly! from 500-1000 range. I have read all the news, crap. I would like input from u guys and gals. TIA!!

I have a few from olympus, sony, cannon. We are debating The XT and the XTi so far. Cannon seems to be the trend.

i got the XTi this xmas. love it.

although, depending on how good you are with camera lingo, and understanding of optics...any digital SLR camera may not be entirely "user friendly" at first. and they dont come with a macro lense, only a kit lense. but this will give you some time to learn the camera before investing in expensive lenses.

you just gota take baby steps, and start in the full auto modes and work from there. just be prepared to do a good bit of reading and practicing. ;)

Dustin, the rebel is great. I am in the process of saving for the Canon 30D, but may go for a 10.1MP Rebel XTi instead. I also have an EOS SLR with a nice asortment of lenses and TTL flashes that will interchange.

Thanks for all the advise. We are waiting for the wifey to get home from work so we can go. She won't let me go by myself. I guess she thinks I will spend more money when she is away. Which she is correct....I will!!

I'll be in the market real soon for a new camera.
I was going to go with the Canon 30D package and also buy a 100mm Macro for it.
