I have a hard time remembering how to spell the word "peninsula"! There I said it now we can move on. :p

This QOTD is inspired by my good buddy and fellow mod @dbl and his peninsula thread here.

So I've never been really in to peninsula tanks.....until now. Lately I've started to get a itch to set one up but I'm scared. I mean how awesome would it be to be able to view your tank from 3 separate sides and get a whole new look each time? But then again that's also 3 sides you have to keep clean and 3 more sides you have to like your aquascaping job! It also presents a challenge when designing the pattern of flow you want in your tank because it's harder to hide the wires and pumps on a peninsula tank. Or maybe I'm overthinking it?

This is where you come in by answering the following questions.

1. What is your experience with peninsula reef tanks? Yay or nay?

2. What are the pros and cons of maintaining a peninsula reef tank?

I was setting up a peninsula style tank but the plumbing schematics got to out of hand. I wanted to run two larger UVs and it was too difficult to hide everything beneath the tank. I want to try a smaller sized one some day.

Unfortunately, we moved back in September and the tank did not make it with us. However, another peninsula is on order.

1. What is your experience with peninsula reef tanks? Yay or nay?
Hell Yes!
2. What are the pros and cons of maintaining a peninsula reef tank?
Pros:
More viewing angles
Aquascape
Look terrific
Access to all sides of tank
Cons:
Aquascape
More glass to clean

I had a 450 gallon peninsula tank previously it was 96" x 36" x 30" and I loved it. The main problem for me was the equipment under the stand was hard to get at, and kind of stuffed in the sump so not good for maintenance. I am taking delivery of a new tank in the next couple of weeks which will also be a peninsula tank and is 84" x 42" x 30" - 460 gallons. I find that aquascaping is much easier and more natural when you have a good amount of width to work with.

I like viewing other people’s peninsula tanks; they’re usually stunning. I have thought about setting one up, but that’s as far as I’ve come. It seems like a lot of work to be honest. Bonus, I now know how to properly spell peninsula, so thanks!

I like peninsula tanks but just haven't the space or right place for one. Saw one awhile back that was a peninsula drop down and it was outrageous. The concerns of a peninsula tank - position of lighting (which is a small challenge) & Flow, which could have it's quirks. In the right space they're awesome.

I’ve never had one.

3 different view points but are awesome looking.
I would get one but I have nowhere in my home where a peninsula tank would fit right.

I have in wall peninsula, it is a Redsea 650 peninsula, I put this in where my old 300 was. The reason I like the peninsula is because it opens up front and back of the tank. I will eventually make a build thread once tank is full of corals, just finished a 4 month cycle. Please excuse the messy fish room on back side and cords everywhere. This was before I filled it few months ago.

I will probably never own a non peninsula tank again.
