Candy Cane Feeding

I've got a new candy cane with three heads. I've had it for a couple of months now. It seems to be moody and shrivels at times like it isn't doing well and then it has quite a few days that it puffs out and looks good.

I have been feeding it 2x a week with Reef Roids and it seems to make them worse. I skipped feeding for about a month and they really swelled out and looked a ton better. I just tried recently to feed them once again and the same thing happened. It's like the digestion aspect made them expend to much energy and they shrunk. I know that this seems ridiculous but when I dont target feed them, they do much better. It doesn't make any sense..

My mushroom, digitata, duncans, goniopora, zoas, blastos, cyphastreas and scoly are all growing like weeds....except for that candy cane which stumps me. I found that it prefers more light after trying it near the substrate and then moving it up. But feeding it seems to trouble it.

BTW-the lighting is low due to the day to night change..

My candy cane gave me similar issues from the start. Messing with mine just seemed to make it worse. If it does okay without the feeding, it's probably best to just leave it be. :)

I find that what they really crave is meaty foods like mysis or LRS versus smaller foods like Reef Roids. I mean just look at the size of those feeder tentacles and orifices.

Try scenting the water with some amino acids first and see if you can stimulate a feeding response - if nothing else it seems corals can absorb aminos through their tissues to help with some nourishment.
