ALSO my red millie has started to turn green!

i just purchased a ORA red planet, will take some pictures and wait 3-4 weeks, it all my corals seem to have all good P/E i also run a fuge with cheatos on reverse lightning, i also feed rods food every other day and amino acid every day. i have 2 nemos and 1 wrasse feeding them daily with NLS pellets. so my phosphate shouldnt be that high. i still havent checked it though. maybe i should start my reactor back up.

lightning is AI NANO

I know from experience that iodine helps red softies keep there color but not a 100% sure on sps. I had a red colt coral that started turning pink until I added iodine. Maybe the sps people can help better because I'm curious now. Lol

I heard yesterday from a local that depending on the placement in his tank (with red planet) it would turn either more green or more red. He thought it was the light levels that was changing the color. He didn't say what levels changed to what color.

Maybe try to move it down or up to see if the color changes.

Red sps usually need high light hold their color. Red/pink millis will turn greenish brown if they aren't getting enough light. A red planet under high light will be all red where as the same coral under lower light will have a green base with red coralites.

I found high light but I also found that they need full spectrum lighting. My reds are coming back after switching out my lamps this year with a more full spectrum setup. I lost lots of color when I had just Blue Plus and AquaBlue Special lamps.

+1 to increased lighting. Red is the first color to drop from the color spectrum as you descend into water.

Also, " i have 2 nemos"? Come on now....:squigglemouth:

Same here full spectrum. Red especially for red corals.
