Hello, I got my Cespitularia about 2 months ago. It started as a small tree with 2 branches. It now has 8 branches and has grown maybe an inch taller. I have it on sand bed and am curious if it will spread onto the sand or if it will grow upwards into a large tree. It seems like it is growing at an angle now almost.

Mine never grew onto the sand. It grew upward and branched then started spreading throughout the rocks wherever it touched. I don't have this tank anymore, but it grew like crazy in there. I had high flow which caused it to have thick stalks.

I dont know if it will grow on sand, but that grabber arm that it grows will keep on growing until it touches something, then it will latch on and grow some more.

I've had mine only 6 months, I just pulled it from the tank today actually. I'll try to give it away, if not, I'll drop the rock in bleach water. I feel bad, its such a pretty coral, but it grows way too fast.
