I anticipate a fast growth curve if it does not cover all the surfaces exposed to the light, assuming it has no other limiting factor, such as nitrate /phosphate/ trace elements. Once it covers the surface, growth may slow down. NO3/PO4 uptake will be proportional to the growth rate.

Sometimes, I wash or leave it in the DT to let the fish dine on the pods and Aiptasia (I have a Copperband).

I would harvest it to maintain my phosphate. If you let it go wild it will exponentially consume it until is bottoms out. This happened to me in the past and the coral didn’t last, and neither did the cheato. I recommend about a small orange size for every 20 or so gallons and once it doubles, harvest and give it away or toss. If your phos is coming up, keep it a bit bigger at harvest, and if phos is dropping fast, cut it in half.
