Need RO/DI Help

So i FINALLY ordered my RO/DI after using the TAP in Montgomery County for years. Put a nice $220 dent in my pocket. But sure is nice.. I gotta figure out if i wanna hook it up to the faucet or the pipes.. What do u guys do?? I cant wait to set it up. I gotta get my brute trash can and dolly next week so i can install the float valve and to do my first RO/DI water change.. Also when i got it i noticed that the dual TDS was connected to read the water going into and exiting the DI. I thought it was suppose to read incomming TAP and out going purified water so as to see the difference in TDS. How can i change this.. I read to put the incomming line after the membrane but before the auto shut off but that means the water already runs through the blocks.. ughh confuseing. Also how can i use it to have drinikng water?? I know i have to bypass the DI but how?? Isnt there a fitting??

To bypass the DI for drinking water, you could get a "quick connect tree" or "tube divider" and an on off switch (like the gray one that came with the unit). You can find those on their website under RO fittings.

As for changing the position of the TDS reading of the incoming water, you can pull back on the plastic ring right where it connects to the hose and you can pull the hose out. Then cut the hose that first goes into the unit and click the hose back into the "quick tree connect." Sorry if I made that confusing. It's kind of hard to put into words. You could also check out BRS's videos and see if there is a solution there, or e-mail them if what I said doesn't work.

You want the inline TDS meter reading post RO membrane and post DI like it presently is. Thats one big drawback of the inline meters, they are dedicated to only two spots and cannot be used portable. I have two of the dual inlines on my system reading tap water, RO only water, first DI water and final or second DI water but I still rely on my handheld meter.
Handhelds have several advantages, one of which is they are portable and can be used anywhere, tap, RO, RO/DI, refrigerator door, neighbors, LFS, bottled water, vending machine and most important your top off container. They are also more accurate since they are temperature compensated unlike the inlines which sense air temperature and not water temperature.
I would pick up a handheld like the HM Digital TDS-3 or COM-100 and use it.

For RO only water, cut the line between the membrane and the DI canister and install a john guest quick fit tee and ball valve. This will also give you a sampling point where you can use the handheld TDS meter for accurate readings.
