Hi just wondering if anyone else has a cherry bom they can post? I got this as a 1” frag from ReefWorks as a cherry bomb. It just doesn’t look like any cherry bombs I found online. I am not complaining how it looks just not sure if it’s a cherry bomb .

It dosnt look like the og tgc cherry bomb.
A lot of vendors are calling similar acros cherry bomb.
Tgc has red/ pink polyps with blue body.
I only have a frag of it.

Acros can vary in color quite a bit from tank to tank based on so many factors (lighting, parameters, flow, etc) Even if it is a cherry bomb that doesn’t guarantee it’s going to look like all the other ones you see in pictures.

This isn’t the traditional OG TGC/CG cherry bomb.
This is:

True, this specimen in question no where near resembles an OG cherry bomb. The polyps arent even remotely close in color, let alone the color of the corallites/skin.

I just never had an issue buying a coral from a show and come to find out it’s another coral. I paid 80 for a 1 inch cherry bomb frag . Not sure if I got a deal with whatever I ended up with .

I always want to see the vendor's colony to make up my mind before purchase.

There's a thread I was just reading through with people all growing out the same frags of the same coral, and coming back with all different looking coral at the end for just this reason.

Sometimes it's not even just the color, but the actual growth form of the skeleton itself.

It probably is maybe its just your picture or lighting is not helping to ID it right.

Read the grow off threads from battle corals. You'll see how different many of them are at the end.
I'm not saying this is your case. You may very well be right, but corals can go through some very weird changes.
