Looking great! Hope this lessons the maintenance for you as you intended. Only problem is that it looks like you're about out of room. Good problem to have in my opinion!

Well I have a series of unfortunate woes. The magnifica deflated back in January and I treated it. Then it went into a powerhead, was treated and stayed in QT. But did not make it. After all those water changes it was much work.

And this morning the Sebae Crispa pan caked. Was going to treat but it dissolved overnight. Both of these anemones came from a specific fish store which I will no longer buy from. I never had these type of issues from my other suppliers.

I think I will quit adding any more live stock in the future. Especially when $300 goes down the drain in 2020 within two months. Not sure if the saddlebacks will stay either. Lots of aggression in the tank.

On a good note, maintenance is a beeeze now. Although I am finding the fish to be kind of thin that I stopped feeding flakes and pellet foods. The glass can go a week before I have to clean. This is a huge change from once a day. I also replace the carbon with every water change. Just figure it’s easier to form the habit now. Top up is still manual so perhaps I will add a ATO one day. Just had bad luck with failure and flooding before. Hence the sumpless and simplicity. But a nightmare for any tank sitters

Sorry for your troubles...I lost a Mertens a little over a year ago due to a VorTech mishap so I feel your pain. Looks great though!

I remember that incident. Didn’t it happen while you were on vacation? Ugh really sorry for your loss.
Yep, sure did...still haven’t completely gotten over it...my tank is a shadow of its former self and the motivation just hasn’t been there. I’m also really busy with my career and kids involved in sports so the time to devote isn’t what it once was.

Tank went through a mini crash last month where hydrogen sulphide claimed the large female saddleback clown. Anemones have all recovered now. Also the Mertensii carpet finally decided to come out of hiding in the back. Hard to get a really good shot but you can see it’s a beautiful deep purple with orange tips. Large green LTA is now in the back with the Condy and rock flowers. Not sure what else is back there. Magnifica came out of hiding and is above the gigantea.

The more I observe my anemones long term, I no longer believe in chemical warfare or incompatibility. They all touch each other and are fine. If one is not happy with another one, it moves to compete for light. But not because of stinging each other.

Well the last 6 months has been brutal with COVID lockout and working in IT with long hours. The tank has been neglected again. What made matters worse is a purple LTA going through the powerhead and probably dead now. But last week a RBTA got completely dissolved which brought about dinoflagellattes. Now the green LTA is MIA, Kenya trees starting to dissolve and other anemones are not happy.

I reinstalled the HOB protein skimmer and running fresh floss, carbon and GFO. Will change out frequently. That paired with regular water changes every few days. Let's hope I get through this.

Even worst is that my home office is around the fish tank so I see it happening but didn't do anything about it. These stands were originally built for two 120 gallons. But I downsized to the 55 instead since having young children and absolutely no time.

Tank is starting to bounce back. Not to the same beauty as before yet. Both LTA are still missing but the purple Condy and a rock flower finally came out to say Hi. The Mertensii also went to a nice spot away from the back wall. RBTA tentacles aren’t as long as they used to be. Perhaps in another month?

Looking good...sorry for troubles you’ve had, but it looks like you’re back on track. I’ve started Vibrant to try and get rid of this nasty algae I have...3 weeks in and things are starting to look up!

Mounted the LED lights up. Magnifica is getting short tentacles which means not enough light on the back wall. So I built a quick bracket to hold them up for now.

Also skimmer is now running 24/7 as phosphate is creeping up with daily feedings until the magnifica is healthy again.

I moved and changed the aqua to make more room for water flow. The carpets are moving again.

Lights just came on.

Mertensii is in the back now as the green haddoni kicked it out.

Tricolour gigabytes starting to show better. Lights are all on 100% blues and white channel.
