Has anyone put an moray eel through CP with success? I have a dwarf golden moray eel and wondered if tank transfer would be better for him or not. I'll have to keep him in one of those critter cages throughout either treatment because he can squeeze through the tiniest of openings.
I put my GDM through CP. He made it through, but I couldn't get him to eat while it was in there. He ate again 2 days after I put carbon back in (after 28 days)

Humblefish any new info on wrasses and CP? I know it seems to be a mixed bag of experiences but a year or two ago you mentioned a LFS that dealt with high end wrasses and reported great success with wrasses and CP. Any further word from others that have tried it?

Setting up/cycling tanks en masse now; however as per the wife no "fish stuff" until after the holidays. :p Will have some wrasses to experiment on after that.

Hi Humble,
Would you ever consider running your own trial with NLS Ick Shield? It is a product of questionable purity and certainly not pharmaceutical grade. But maybe it's still good enough if dosed higher than recommended, for example? It sure is easy to access, and if someone could show that when optimally dosed it is very effective, this would save a lot of hobbyists a world of headache. Since it is sold by a mainstream company in this business, there is at least a chance that there is consistency in its makeup, as opposed to CP from "the Ebay guy," who for all you know is selling you a bag of crushed up painkillers. :p
Just a thought.

I could not get a script for CP. The closest I got was a vet who was 2 weeks out and wanted $400 for a house call. My fish would have been dead.

I bought the CP from NFP (National Fish Pharmaceutical). I dosed it at 50mg to account for any low purity and it cured my puffer who was covered in velvet. I'm a believer.

I will be buying a spectrophotometer soon, and will be testing various "brands" of CP (including Diamondback's.) However, I'll need to be crafty about it... I can't just call company X and ask them to send me a sample of their CP. I'll need to find some already "out there" - product that wasn't specifically meant to be tested. ;)

The other challenge is CP is prepared in batches. So, one batch of NLS could test ≥ 99% pure, while another batch (with a different expiration date) could test differently. In fact, someone told me NLS Ick Shield doesn't even have an expiration date on it. o_O Hopefully I can find a batch # or something on the bottle.

Possibly you could volunteer your time (maybe in exchange for 25 gms? :) ) to batch test other hobbyists' purchase. In exchange for sending you 25 gms plus a test sample, you could report back results. Of course all legalities would have to be confirmed first.

^^ This is the thing. I'm sure most vendors would be fine with me reporting a positive test of their Product X. However, if you notice me saying nothing at all about Product Y - you'll know there's a reason why. ;)

Well, if legally ok, it could be a wake up call for the vendors of product Y to step up their game ;)

Yea, companies sueing an individual transcend innocence. The possibility of running into a spiteful company probably not be worth the risk.

I see Hippo tangs are on the no-go list. I just got a white tail bristletooth tang and a purple tang. I was going to prophylacticly treat them with 40mg/gallon while in qt. They show zero symptoms of anything right now. Will cp be safe for these tangs?

My Tomini just made it through fine. Pretty much the same as a white tail.

you are lucky your vet is doing that for you! I have had no luck.
Get the prescription for the powder form and ideally for 30g. That should last you for a few years.
Can take the prescription and send it to diamondback or the vet can just call it in to them for you.
you would dose 40-80mg/g once and thats it. Adjust for water changes.
