With so many different systems out there it makes it hard to choose the right one. I see prices ranging from $175 all the way up to $700. What are we looking for when choosing an RODI system?

I'm not trying to get too fancy but at the same time I'm not trying to cut any corners. I just need a reliable system that will out put 0 TDS and not go out on me for a few years but they all seem like they do that. So what's the deal? Can someone learn me?

Generally speaking, all the mounts and filter housings are the same. Fittings differ, and can be deplorable on el cheapo units. The main differences is what filters are housed inside of them.

I highly recommend contacting Russ at Buckeye Hydro, or the guys at Spectrapure. They will give you the best bang for your buck and ensure you're not cutting any corners based on your specific water conditions (they'll ask for your municipality so they can check what's added to your water).

For most systems on city water a four stage unit is great: Prefilter, carbon block, RO membrane, DI. If your city adds chloramines, like mine, you'll add in a chloramine specific carbon block between standard carbon block and RO membrane.

Don't get caught up in the "more stages is better" mindset; it is not better.

I don't recommend coralife pure flo...I have one and I'm likely going to replace it. Their membranes are very expensive.
