Looking good Chris.
Which acro is the one in the second picture?

Thanks! No idea on what exact type of acro that is, nor does it have some fancy name that I know of.

Congratulations! I have been wondering!

so Chris why are you changing out your sump?

my current sump is a small part of a larger sump system (of which I don't have the rest) and has 2 chambers. The baffles are wrong so I have to be super careful to not get micro bubbles in my tank and my return pump is in my skimmer/main section. Basically, it's not really a sump so much as an acrlyic tank with a couple incorrect baffles.

The new sump, when it gets put in some day will be a massive upgrade as far as micro bubbling and space, it's over twice as big volume wise.

What a cutey. Gosh I loved that stage in life!
Re sump: That is awesome. Looking forward to see it come together. I am working on my sump and fishroom today. I will post pictures later.

I'm not normally one for high end / fancy named acros, nor am I for spending hundreds on 3/4 inch nubs of them but I splurged a bit and some orange passion showed up today! I hope I can coax good coloration out of it. I'll shoot some photos with the big camera once it's acclimated and the LEDs are on.

We're still here!

2018-08-08_04-08-18 by Christopher Uthe, on Flickr

Having two kids really kicked in and things drifted with summer fully in swing (we are at the lake house every weekend during the summer...) so I was pretty bummed when we lost two Anthias fish in so many weeks. I'm not sure what took them but we're down to a pretty sparse fish load.

I'm torn on if I want to stock up fish wise or try to catch the remaining 5 or so fish and put them in the 75 and let the 180 run fallow for a while while treating the remaining fish to try to clean things up.

Coral wise, the Tubbs mystic blue is still STNing, the SC Orange Passion RTN'd overnight in an obvious lesson in humility on buying expensive coral. It's sitting in ti's spot covered in algae to remind me.

Some updated photos are required soon I think. I'm including my stats in my signature now in an effort to pressure me into continual testing now that we're getting some stable, decent numbers.

If you need to go fallow for disease, you know now is the time. sucks, though! Kids really get in the way of stuff! lol. jk...good to embrace it because it only last a tiny bit. Going to the lake house to spend time with family is PRICELESS. that is awesome you guys do that.

Yea the worst part is I'm confident I can catch the Anthias, cardinal fish and clown (all of which come eat out of my hand) but the Tang and the YWG will be rough. Don't really want to tear the tank apart since the coral growth is good for most pieces...

Catch the YWG with a hook. Catch him first. Tangs I have always been able to catch with a trap. Set up the 75 gallon where you can see it daily and enjoy them. It makes the fallow period so much better. Catch who is toughest first then walk away. Don't get so invested in catching them NOW that you tear apart the tank to do it.

I suppose it's either that or waiting for them all to die, which, clearly would not prefer. Now I just need to find a place to set the 75 up.

On a more positive note, some photos! (T5 Only, cell phone through the front glass):

Small update: Things continue to trend towards good coral wise. I guess you can expect that when you're testing every day for the most part and changing 4 gallons of water a day.

One of my two MP40's had an issue and I replaced the entire pump, but moved it's placement and accidentally moved some sand and t'd off the clam, who turned to get out of the flow. I'll work on putting the pump back in it's original spot today. I also ordered the parts to fix the old pump, so the tank will have 3 MP40QD's on it, once I figure out where to put the 3rd... Probably on the back wall with very light flow.

I've been struggling with pH as you can see in my Aquatic log, from 7.4->7.9 is my current range despite re-calibrating the probe not long ago. To combat this I've just left my office window open, which does work outside of the couple times it rained all over various items. As winter approaches the window will clearly not be able to be left open so I need a new plan. Originally I was going to go with a co2 scrubber plumbed through my skimmer intake and cup to keep the media wet. That seems to be a good solution but not cheap and another media to change. Alternatively as we fix up this old house (1910-1920's old) and keep making it tighter we are in need of looking at some mechanical air exchange. I found this energy recovery ventilator packaged up to look like an exhaust fan:

https://www.supplyhouse.com/Panason...V5sFUe_WH-FcCQZWOK2br_aSNcWppyGRoCI-wQAvD_BwE

and I think it may be the solution. Bring in some fresh air year round (as long as it's above 20 degrees, which will mean it will only run afternoons in the winter time and even skip whole days/weeks) and keep the house fresh.

Cost wise, at $330 it compares OK to the jumbo dual reactor from BRS at $339 with legs. The fan has more cost in extra parts and install time but since the fish room is unfinished it is certainly easier than it could be.

I ordered up a new probe and new calibration packets just to make sure it's as bad as I think it is, but at least I have what I think will be an OK plan going forward if it is.

Good idea. Benefit for the whole house not just the tank. Keep us updated.

Yea once the basement remodel is done we'll want the extra exchange so it seems logical to get it done now and solve the other problem too.

WoW ,,, I want that in my office.

Thanks, 10 years working from home this is one of my favorite parts of that!

well I guess my ALK is stable now..

upload_2018-8-14_12-53-29.png

though I keep upping the dosing, it's been steady at 139-145ppm.

Digging some coral out of the abyss this morning, I have what was sold to me as a RR Juggernaut and some 100 degree mille that I need to start taking care of.

I also pulled the couple pieces of bubble algae off the clam, I have never had that in my tank until the clam arrived so that's a fun development.
