I started this tank back in late June. and things are going good so far I did loose one fish and a nem. the fish was an algae blenny . I was never able to get him to eat not sure if he was sick or what the deal was. the nem I think fell victim to my peppermint shrimp. all other corals are doing great as well as the fish and shrimp. I have a pair of clowns one firefish a royal gramma and a hectors goby . one skunk cleaner shrimp and a peppermint shrimp.

I have started using kalkwaser in my ato water to stabilize my alk and ca so far it seems to be working. I have tested my alk with my hanna checker and it's steady at 9.6 dkh I need to test my ca again last time I checked it it was in the high 400's but that was using the red sea test kit and I have such a hard time with that set up . need the hanna for that as well. ph is at around 8.2-8.3

All you do for that is add kalk to your top off every time you fill it up right? Do you clean out the bucket before you fill it back up again. I've thought about doing this for the same reason.

from the way I understand yes. I use a 5 gallon jug for the reservoir on my ato set up. so I just filled up and added 1tsp per gallon and that seems to be working so far to keep things stable I think the trick is to get your alk and ca to the levels you want to maintain then add the kalk to your ato reservoir . I believe from what I read that if you try and raise with the kalk it will cause a huge drop in your ph. I am no expert but here is a good video from brs.
