Yesterday I bought a longnose hawkfish, one of my dream. She's tiny, maybe 2 inches long and currently in quarantine. I have a peppermint shrimp and skunk cleaner shrimp who are bigger than she is for now.
Will they be okay once she gets bigger? I plan to keep her full because in theory a full fish isn't an aggressive fish.
Lnh is one of the fish that was on my list to get before I got an aquarium.

Should be fine. I have had my long nose hawk for 6 mos or so and I have a blood shrimp for a year and the hawk fish has not bothered the shrimp at all.

My shrimp are adults. I had the fish in a bag next to the aquarium. The shrimp are longer than the hawkfish.

Depends on the hawkfish. I had a long nose who killed a cleaner shrimp of mine after being fine for about 6 months. Now I have a different hawkfish (not sure what he is exactly) but he devours the frozen shrimp I feed my predators. These frozen shrimps are the same size as him! He also likes to try to bully the other fish too. Im his 5th home due to his aggression lol. Could go either way depending on her temperament.

🎲🎲 Vegas is giving your shrimp a better than 70% chance they will be OK, provided they are on the large size.

The last few fish I've had in quarantine have been intimidated by my walking around getting ready for bed. This little dude likes to watch whatever I'm doing and doesn't hide.
I like the personality. I'm hoping she stays chill with the other inhabitants of my aquarium.

I kept freshwater fish for 30+ years. I don't recall ever getting attached to them like I am with my saltwater fishies. I loved my angels and clown loaches, but never got attached to the tetras. Am I the only one who's like this.

I was only attached to Swimmy, my childhood goldfish who was like 20 when he passed. Not the other fish. But my saltwater fish Im very attached too! Especially my morays

Well, as someone who has had both types of Hawk Fish...i can tell you....for the 1st 6mos or so, a model citizen and really cool fish. Loved both. One day, maybe a weekend we were out later, and didn't do the evening feeding.. came home to no cleaner shrimp. No peppermints etc....my guy had himself a nice $45.00 meal. After 2 of them at different times, i decided NO on any type of Hawk Fish....granted my main tank is just a 40GB, but I've seen people keep them just fine in much larger systems. They will also enjoy snails as a delectable treat as well. Just an FYI.

But good luck!!
