I recently took some pictures of my Christmas tree rock, absolutely love this piece! So much bio diversity on a ‘boring’ rock.

Bought this rock two years ago when my tank was just three months old. The worms are doing great but some time ago the Cyphastrea on the rock died off. I might glue a new frag onto the rock, what do you think?

It lives happily in my 40 gallon shallow reef tank, with no sump/filtration, extra feeding or other measures to keep it.

Do you have a Christmas tree rock, lets see some pictures!

Yeah, i got one a couple weeks ago for an amazing deal i couldn't pass up...my worms are very small right now though (not sure if it's the species or if they'll grow over time)...i also love the glowing green of the Porites coral they're on...here's a pic Screenshot_2022-11-22-13-44-15-263_jp.naver.line.android.jpg

Thanks! They're actually growing out of the live Porites coral...was yours just growing out of a piece of rock or the Cyphastrea coral? I hope my worms grow to the size of yours!!

My rock was completely covered with Cyphastrea coral, with tubes for hermit crabs and worms in between. :)

I don't really want to be a Debbie Downer here but I would like to see if your success is still going.

I can remember when my local fish store had Fiji Rock and Tonga. And often times we would get Christmas tree worms in our rock with brittle stars and all kinds of groovy stuff. I'm just wondering how far that translates to today's standards.

I kind of feel like a crackhead moving backwards because I know what we used to get and nowadays there's nothing like this in my store

It’s closer to 200 a pound nowadays unfortunately which is why I’ve never invested in one. I remember in the LFS we had a large piece of Christmas tree worm rock that we kept for several years until we had to sell it on.
