Hey everyone! I have a 3 inch maxima clam that has recently not been looking that great. I’ve had it close to two months and over the past week or so it hasn’t been looking very happy. I’ve had nothing change recently, so I’m kind of at a loss. When I got it, it attached to my rock work within days and had been very happy. I noticed that it had released from that spot and it appeared that the byssal threads were shredded. The clam has not been opening up like it used to and is constantly falling over, but is still receptive to shadows and phyto feeding. If y’all have any advice, I would appreciate it!

Questions:

What are your current parameters?
Kh, Ca, Mag, NO3, PO4?

Are you feeding anything?
Phyto, etc?

What kind of lights do you have?
Do you notice a difference when lights are off vs when lights are on at height of cycle?

Finally, do you have a pic from 1-2 weeks ago that will show changes?

the shell of your clam looks good to me, so I’m guessing this is recent/acute problem. Mantle retracted, but obviously not happy now. I’m still learning so not 100%sure.

Maybe #reefsquad can help.

Check for Pyramids.
Leave the clam in the sandbed IMO.
