Clam, how long with no light

How long with a clam live with no light? I am doing a blackout. Will he make it 3-4 days? Or do I need to move him

I don’t recommend black outs. I think it’s a terrible solution for algae.

@minus9 yes I have that, I thank you. I have tried everything in that thread except adding stuff from the ocean. And the only thing that helped was the blackout.

Yes I run a UV. It’s slowed down to the a slow speed that I saw recommended in the Dino thread, nutrients are good, dosed peroxide, added bacteria.

The issue was a added some new dry rock and they took over

Well, if blackouts is the only thing that’s working, what can you do? The clam will probably do fine, especially if it’s healthy. I would avoid it at all costs, but it seems like you already tried a lot of things.

I would miscrocope the dinos stat. Then I’d baste the dinos off (same effect as a black out) so they can get zapped by the UV.

Depending on the species, I’d start adding sodium silicate to encourage diatoms, and I would make sure phosphate never drops below 0.1ppm.

Are the dinos only colonizing the new rock or have they spread everywhere else?

They started on the new rock. Took that over pretty good, then crept onto the glass. Once they were growing on that they took off and it was downhill
