Clam looking stressed

Been in my tank for 6 days, used to be in lower light before I moved it up yesterday after noticing the mouth was gaping open and it kept shifting itself around.
The mouth closed up after moving up but today its mantle isint fully out and also the mouth is even more gaped
Do i move it back down?
I did do a large waterchange yesterday,. about 40ish %

What type of lighting do you have? This clam likes high light. It also seems to be on an angle? Or its just the angle of the picture maybe. #minus9

I’m unsure what brand lighting it is, but it’s been growing my other corals (sps and lps) just fine, it’s also not at an angle and is just the weird angle I took the photos at unless you mean where I have it turned a bit to face the front glass

I’m generally kind of a hands off person when it comes to clams. I feel that us moving and fiddling with them tends to cause more harm than good. I would leave it alone for a while. It just moved tanks which is always a lot of change and can cause some stress, keep your parameters stable, and give it some time.

Oh okay, it’s just that it looked really good the first 1-3 days it was in the tank so I thought it would stay that way

It looks like a mature clam, they are pretty hardy and tolerant a lot, but I still try and move them as little as possible. I would also keep any eye out for nipping fish, I’ve seen all kinds of fish and inverts go after clams

Critters take time to acclimate to their new home, assuming tank parameters are good I would expect it to bounce back fairly quickly.

I think the mantle is even more retracted today, and mouth is smaller than yesterday. or maybe it looks smaller because its more retracted

Im keeping salinity stable the best i can (its a nano tank)
Phosphate did spike to 0.4 (hannah checker) but i did waterchanges and its gone down to about 0.1~
nitrate is about 5
alk was a bit low so i dosed some alk

WC will usually only temporarily fix phos, then it creeps right back up. You usually need to use something like GFO to lower it.

i am setting up a refugium though.
Also should i feed phyto or red sea AB+ right now or will it only stress out the clam more

I would do your best to keep things as consistent as possible for right now. Moving tanks, large water changes, changing dosing, these can all stress out critters. I would go slowly on everything. If your alks low focus on that, for a week or two, then work on the next thing. Clams don’t love changes so I would track your parameters, and minimize changes for a bit while the clam settles. Keep posting pics so we can track the clams progress.

The whiter the light the better. It’s easier to see what’s going on since cameras don’t do well with blue light. Also since it was asked earlier maybe get a photo of the light you are using for the tank and we might be able to figure out what it is

I never fed my clam directly.

Ill get a photo of the light later but this is the clam today, it seems a bit unresponsive and dosent react much (if at all) to light changes.
