I’m working on a list for what fish and clean up crew I want for my 40 gallon 3ft long tank. I want to have a diamond back goby in it to sift the sand and clean it up. If I put in some Nassarius snails in will they be competing with my goby for food or will the goby be alright.

My pair of yellow watchman goby (one big and one small) will only station at a spot. The nassarius snails will be moving around through out the tank. Plus, when you feed the gobies eat the fish food so I think it should be good. Just don’t too much snails maybe get a sandaridd

Have you thought about a conch? I got one from a friend a few weeks ago and that thing does a great job keeping the sand turned over and clean. It pretty much goes around 24/7 eating stuff sitting on top and churning the sand around with its weird ninja arm.

I have a sleep banded goby that does a great job of sifting the sand. He does make a bit of mess with sand on the rocks but I try to blow it off every day or so. Good thing is it will eat fish food as well so if there is not enough stuff in the sand it won't starve
